Making of the PYP Exhibition

Review of Essential Elements of PYP

Session on designing a logo by Visual Art teachers

Excitement was in the air! The most important event in the life of a PYP learner- the PYP exhibition was about to begin. Each one of us was thrilled about the designing and the selection of the PYP exhibition logo which would symbolize our unit- Sharing the Planet.

We all read the descriptor of the TD theme very carefully, put on Edward de Bono’s creativity hat and started putting our imagination to paper. Each one of us wanted our logo to be selected. The selection process was well thought of and extremely fair. The logos were put up on easels. Grades three, four and five were supposed to vote for the best logo. This helped in selecting a handful of them from so many of them.

The selection after this became even tougher. After several rounds of judgements including the Principal Mrs. Anvita, Art HOD Mr. Bodh, Ms. Rashima, Ruchika, Grade V teachers, coordinators , finally teacher’s poll decided who the winner was. But as it is often said- “participation is more important than winning”, I did not get disappointed and started working even harder for my PYP Exhibition!

Field trip Bagiya School

My Trip to Bagiya—A school for lesser-privileged children

PYP Exhibition Group: Sowers-sowing seeds of reading!

Our journey started by boarding the bus. When we reached the school, we saw very small tables and chairs, with very low resources. I sat down with two girls. I introduced myself and they introduced themselves. I asked them, “What is your dream? What do you want in life? What to do you to be when you grow up?” Both of them said they wanted to be doctors. I looked around and I saw everyone wanted to be doctors. Then I asked, “What do you really want to be?” Then I heard answers like ‘teachers, police, programmer, cricket player and even a pilot’. Then we asked the principal, “Do you need any help from pathways?” After some talk we agreed that we students from Pathways will help make a new library. My take-away from the field trip is: when children don’t discover themselves, they don’t know what they can achieve; and that even the youngest of people can make a difference.

Umbrella Central Idea

Field trip to Rajiv Gandhi non-renewable energy plant

It was an amazing field trip. We all had laughs and giggles. But we also learnt a lot and were able to prepare videos, click photos and gain new ideas. This truly was the perfect place to visit as it was perfectly in sync with our issue and gave us lots of ideas for different actions we could propose. There were movies, displays, models, etc. But  the thing I feel was most eye – opening were the interviews. We interviewed 2 people. They both gave us new and innovative information. We were able to capture this in the form of videos. Overall, a day full of learning.
